I
have always maintained that tools will never
take the place of talent, or resolve. There
is no "correct" way to accomplish
anything in this industry. Each individual
is comfortable with their own tools and
methods. It is results that we strive for.
Most creative people
have to create. They can't help it. They
also want to impress and please with their
talent. One thing I have learned in my career
is to surround myself with good people and
then leave them alone and let them impress
me. 9 times out of 10, they will.
To the left is a
list of the tools I use in my craft. While
it is not a complete list of everything,
it does represent the majority. My approach
depends greatly on the project. Where you
would like to go, how you desire to travel,
and how much you have to you get there.
There are 3 constants
in the visual universe. Time, quality and
budget. You may select 2. What remains you
must pay for.
As I mentioned earlier,
it is results that we strive for. Method
is secondary. We all work in our own unique
way. Never once have I had a client express
concern over the tools used to create a
project. Their goal and concern is the finished
product.
