A very ambitious project
entitled Mysteries of the Americas. This project
was a joint venture with Mariel Media Group of
Dallas Texas. Consisting of seven 30 minute programs,
Mysteries of the Americas was a look into strange
and unusual phenomenon in north, Central and South
America.
The production ran for
nearly 3 years and covered topics such as religeous
holidays, wicca, and Mesoamerican culture. Production
took us to Central and South America, Canada,
Spain and the Canary Islands.
I am very proud of this
project. Aside from the series, episode 3, "The
Day of the Dead" has made its way into many
educational institutions and museums in Latin
America.
"Mysteries
of the Americas" - A rather ambitious
undertaking of 3 years. This Discovery Channel
project consists of 7 half hour programs
covering strange and unusual phenomenon
in north, central and south america. This
example covers the program open and a brief
segment from episode 3. The open consists
of 2D and 3D animation and a multitude of
composites. Running time: 2 minutes 1 second.
A still
from an animation for the mysteries project.
The background was a live plate shot in
Hawaii with the CG T-Rex added later. We
tried to get him to stay still for the shot
while we were there but he wasn't having
any so we added him post! Yeah, right!
The
Mysteries project was laden with animation.
Unfortunately, when you are creating a program
with historic content, you don't always
have what you need available to shoot.
It
doesn't look like it but this is one very
large volcano! Still very active and quite
the menace for 26 million people living
in the Mexico City area. I was not pleased
when the producer said, "Yeah, but
we have to have it." I was later kicking
myself, since I was the producer, asking
myself, "What were you thinking?"
It's a great shot and can be found in the
video demo at the top of the page.
This
one pretty much explains itself but for
those of you who don't get it, it's the
HBO logo disguised to look like the Discovery
Channel logo. I thought it was obvious but
then again, I created it.
One
of the most well preserved pyramids in the
world. the Moon pyramid is located in Teotihaucan,
2 hours outside of Mexico city. This was
a great place to shoot but
